Leadership Opportunities

Community Development Fellowship
The community development fellowship (CDF) is a year long fellowship of a select group of Jewish undergraduate students who are invested in developing a strong Jewish community at Washington University. The fellowship is designed to enhance Jewish life on campus and build leadership within this community. CDF’s foster relationships with underclassmen at Wash U by serving as mentors and working together to create a dynamic atmosphere of Jewish life on campus. Fellows serve as liaisons and resources for students to explore and discover their Jewish identities. CDF’s strive to understand students’ interests and passions in order to connect them to opportunities through JSU, Hillel and various other Jewish programs that they may find meaningful and engaging. Through training in communication, leadership and relationship building, CDF’s will develop skills that contribute to their growth as college students and future leaders.New community development fellows are selected each December. The fellows are committed to one full year of participation from January-December. CDF’s play a large role in the freshmen retreat Into the Wild and are asked to come back to campus by move-in day in August. Peer-Network Engagement Internship
St. Louis Hillel is proud to be a part of a larger Hillel National initiative known as the Peer Network Engagement Internship. The Peer-Network Engagement Internship (PNEI) is designed to enhance Jewish life on campus. Each campus employs 3 – 5 students who are leaders within diverse facets of university life and who have broad social networks to build relationships with uninvolved Jewish students over the course of a year. Each Peer-Network Intern is charged with building relationships with 40-50 uninvolved Jewish students on campus. They strive to understand students’ interests, passions, and aspirations – and connect them to opportunities that they may find meaningful and engaging. Additionally, they provide on-going relatiosnhip-building and connect students to immersive and meaningful experiences such as Taglit-Birthright Israel and Alternative Break and create methods for follow-through upon return to campus.
