Shabbat on Campus - New Shabbat format 07-08, see below!

Friday night at Hillel is a moving experience for many students. You can end your busy week with a relaxing evening with friends. Students can choose from three student-led services (Conservative, Orthodox, and Reform) or the occasional themed or "non-service", followed by a festive communal dinner attended by over 100 students on average. Services start at around 5:45, and a kosher dinner at around 7:00. Dinner is catered by Bon Appetit Dining services. See below for reservations and cost.

Candlelighting Times

On Saturday morning many students choose to go to area synagogues. Bais Abraham, a local modern orthodox synagogue is among the most welcoming for students. A complete list of area synagogues can be found here.
A student group, Shabbat Lunch, will be organizing Shabbat lunches for the 2007-2008 school year. Lunches will be sponsored by one of 3 organizations each week.
Hillel and Bon Appetit, visit Bon Appetit's website for reservations and to pay by meal points.
Bais Abraham, Visit Bais Abe's website to make reservations, lunch is Free.
Chabad, Visit Chabad's website to make reservations, lunch is Free.

**NEW** Family Format for 07-08
Reservations for Shabbat dinners MANDATORY!
Reserve to Bon Appetit by Wednesdays at noon.

St. Louis Hillel has worked hard with Bon Appetit to make some student requested changes to the Shabbat dinner format. We are introducing, "Family Style" for 07-08. Some of the changes include round tables and a "family style" buffet instead of servers. Due to these changes, a mandatory reservation policy is in effect. This will also help to assure the appropriate amount of food is prepared with minimal waste. Hillel will ensure a limited number of meals each Shabbat for those who do not make a reservation.

RSVP for Shabbat dinners to Bon Appetit by Wednesdays at noon.  314-935-7098, http://diningservices.wustl.edu/mealplans_kosher.shtml or email wucatering@cafebonappetit.com
You can make it easier and reserve for the entire semester of Shabbat dinners on their website. But remember, you will still be charged for dinner if you do not cancel by the noon Wednesday deadline.

07-08 Prices as follows:
Thanks to our generous donors, St. Louis Hillel is able to subsidize the Wash U prices for Shabbat dinners this year! This means students will actually pay:
8 meal points for Wash U students on a Kosher meal plan
10 meal points for students on all non-kosher Wash U meal plans
$14 for cash or voluntary meal points. Bon Appetit accepts cash or check only, no credit cards.
(Wash U's regular prices are 8.75 points for kosher plan, 13 points for non-kosher plan and $19.75 cash or voluntary meal points.)
If you have any other considerations, please contact Hillel by Wednesdays at noon. 314-935-9040 or hillel@stlouishillel.org
