The Young Professionals Division of the Jewish Federation of St. Louis presents Tammie Schnitzer from the TV movie “Not in Our Town” to speak about activism in the Jewish community. Tammie grew up as a Lutheran and converted to Judaism. She will speak about her and her family’s experience as the targets of hate crimes, and give us tips on ways to battle hatred in our community. Bais Abraham: Educating from the Earth
Bais Abe invites you to Educating from the Earth, a special Shabbaton program to kick off their community vegetable garden! Friday, Mar. 5: Carlebach davening at 5:45pm, followed by a delicious meal and “Gardens of Delight: The Idea of the Garden in Jewish Thought,” a study session with biblical, midrashic, and mystical texts. $14. Saturday, Mar. 6: Shacharit services at 9am where Nati Passow will give a d’var Torah on the growing movement of young Jews who are engaging in agricultural work, followed by a Lunch and Learn “How a Tiny People on a Big Planet Can Make an Enormous Difference.” $12. After Shabbat at 8pm, come view the film “The Garden,” which tells the story of the largest urban farm in the United States. Sunday, Mar. 7: We will start working in the garden, rain or shine!
